History

Efuusor started out as a seven member band in Grenada put together by Vision school of music to target the hotel entertainment industry of in 2004. This groupquickly evolved into a fourteen member band and other supporting groupse after the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September the same year. It's main focus was Music Evangelism with the vision of spreading the good news of God’s love to the entire world, through music and dance, a mission is to take the Gospel horizontally to the Nations and vertically to the various strata of society. The Word Efuusor is of Nigerian origin and means “Vision” and our Logo is that of an African fish eagle flying across the globe. This Bird was chosen for three main reasons, one it is African, two eagles are noted for their vision and three it’s a fisher. In other words Efuusor is a group of African decent that has caught hold of the vision of being fishers of men to the ends of the earth.

The Group Efuusor like an eagle born to fly, emerged out of Vision School of Music when first in 2003 Michael and Naomi Haynes owners of the music school were contracted by a local Gospel promotion group to provide musical backing for Jamaican Gospel artiste Chevelle Franklyn and other local artistes at what was carded to be a Mega Gospel Concert at the National Stadium. A team was put together comprising Michael Haynes (instructor) on keyboard, Naomi Haynes (Instructor) on bass, Arvin Williams (past Student) on Keyboard, Neil Hannibal (Student / Instructor) on Drums, Godson Browne & Arthur Daniel (Students) on Percussions.

In June 2004 Michael Haynes who had been playing for dinning at the Grand Beach hotel since April 2003 put together a group seven as vision school of music continued its venture in hotel entertainment industry. The group consisted Arvin Williams, Godson Browne, Naomi’s Aunt, Faye James (Vocalist), Samantha Cape (Vocalist), Naomi Haynes and Michael Haynes. Both Faye and Samantha had performed in the 2003 Chevelle concert, Faye with the Sounds of Grace Gospel band and Samantha as a soloist. The Seven member group made debut as a band doing Thursday night gigs at La Source. It was this seven member group that assumed the name EFUUSOR after it requested by the management of La Source that the band for marketing reasons be given a separate name instead of operation under the name of Vision school of Music as it was. The word Efuusor which is a African word from the Benin Igbo tribe of eastern Nigeria meaning “Vision” was chosen in order to maintain the Haynes’ Concept of “Vision.”

Around the same time of the formation of Efuusor, Vision School of Music (VSM) had a déjà vu experience when they were contracted by RK ministries, another local Gospel promotion group to provide musical backing for Jamaican Gospel Artiste Junior Tucker and other local artistes. The local singers were Faye James from Sounds of Grace, Samantha Cape , Ava Pierre and Maria Alleyne called Appointed by Destiny ,John Baptiste from the duo Blessed Youth and Dancehall Gospel artiste Mike Baptiste all whom had performed in the 2003 Chevelle Franklyn Concert. This time the VSM group also provided impressionist backing for the drama group “Sons of Zion”. And were accompanied by dancers Vaughn Joseph ( a vsm student ), Neil Hannibal’s Cousin Ronieph Lawerence from Jamaica , Ava Pierre’s brother Akim Pierre and Kelon from Sons of Zion.

The Junior Tucker Concert called The Rapture which took place on the 10th of July 2004 resulted in a union that was hard to break. In August of that same year the Rapture by request was taken to the sister isle of Carriacou this time not under the umbrella of RK ministries and without Junior Tucker but with group members doing his songs and their own songs.

Efuusor’s La Source gigs ended with the passage of hurricane Ivan in September 2004 at which time the group had tapered of to performing only instrumental music. Efuusor like an eagle renewing its strength took on a life of its own as the rapture group continued to congregate at the Haynes new home in Frequente to do music and pray, this was really therapy to everyone all recovering from the traumatic experience of hurricane Ivan. Efuusor now fortified with the talents from the rapture team  hit the worship scene when it did a rendition of Junior Tucker’s “Sold out “at the Latter Rain Revival Centre. Later that year, we were asked to minister at Evangelistic Centre for Christmas morning where we ministered with the group “Signs of Truth” and dancer Carine Adams from Evangelistic Centre, this soon lead to teaming up with Pastor Alleyne and the “Revival in the Land” programe, which is seen on GBN TV every Sunday.

In April of  2005, we partnered with “Radical for Christ” (an organization that brings the gospel to the people young or old ) for their mission outing at Bathway where the ministry this time was not to a Christian audience but to a mixed audience.
