Easter

Now this is the Easter season, some say Lent, others say Advent, regardless of the words use we all know something significant happened around this season. This Season people seem to be more loving, fasting more, trying to be ceremoniously proper, trying very hard to be good. Some folks say they do not drink strong alcohol, some do not eat meat, others do not wear make up. But the question is Why do we do all that? Is it Religious or Cultural, or do we do these things because we will be pardon for our sins?

Its a season full of color, and for most women, the hats and you can bet your last dollar that almost all churches we will be packed with people you have not seen in ages and some you do not even know. But my question is do we really understand this time of the year and the true story? And also what is the significance of the Easter Bunny and its eggs, and egg hunting? In the midst of all this you do not hear about the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour. Please lets get back to the bible and teaching our children what Easter is all about.Easter_jesus_on_the_cross-6

On Love and Romance

Do we wait until Valentine day to express our love to our love ones? How many times do you look your spouse in his/her eyes and say ‘I Love You?’ Sad to say some folks here these words only on Valentine’s Day, Birthdays, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We must show our love always, in the little things, holding of the hands, assisting each other with chores, playing games, taking time out to sit and share (not about the kids or our jobs) just to share with each other our innermost feelings. Don’t get caught up in the commercialized version of what love is, be genuine with each other all year round so when these occasions occur, it should be an extension and an opportunity to display how much we love each other.

I saw this poem about the greatest love for us and will share

God’s Valentine Gift

God’s Valentine gift of love to us
Was not a bunch of flowers;
It wasn’t candy, or a book
To while away the hours.

His gift was to become a man,
So He could freely give
His sacrificial love for us,
So you and I could live.

He gave us sweet salvation, and
Instruction, good and true–
To love our friends and enemies
And love our Savior, too.

So as we give our Valentines,
Let’s thank our Lord and King;
The reason we have love to give
Is that He gave everything.

Worship, Music, Performance and the Church

I did an article on worship “The Why , What , How” and just recently myself and others from all parts of the internet world participated in a discussion that was so interesting and it really open up my eyes again to this topic. They are a lot of people confused with worship and style, performance and entertainment, church and concert, congregation and an audience; so based on what we discussed can some one weigh in on this and then I will share what I’ve learned

Remember Worship is our response to God,

Style speaks about, Big Band, Jazz, two step, pop, pop rock, soca, R&B etc.

But here is a tricky question; if you are in church and we have a service on a Sunday morning, we usually say the ‘congregation’ and now we have an event in the same church , we open with worship and then we bring on varied artists to ‘Perform/ Minister’ is it now a congregation or an audience? and are we performing or ministering?

Weigh in on this.

New Year Greetings from Efuusor

A Very Happy New Year to you all, we do pray that your year will be blessed and that we all continue to walk honestly, honorably and holy as ambassadors of Christ. Lets be careful of how we talk to and work with our fellow believer’s in Christ and learn how to encourage, lift up and help enhance each other ministries especially where we serve.

Seek God for what He desires you to be and stop battling with what others say you should be. God has the blueprint for your life and He knows your strengths and weaknesses and your where and how to function. He is the I Am that I Am, He was and Is to Come, He cannot be compared to no one, His ways and thoughts are higher than one can imagine. So if you need to know what God wants you to do this year, Just seek Him and spend time with Him.

Happy New Year and be blessed

A Merry Christ-mas, Happy Holidays, Season Greetings

We take this time out to reflect on the birth of Christ and to celebrate His life. We know that this season is very festive, and the exchange of gifts and all the pretty colors and lights that accompany and accentuate this season. But the greatest gift of all was born to us in a manger so that we can receive the ultimate gift, So please remember to give more and let us all join in and say Joy to the world The Lord has Come. Be blessed this season and all others to come.Christmas-Garland

Are we really Representing?

Here is the question for life for all Ministers, whether you are a Worship Leader, Usher, Pastor, Choir members and directors, Sunday School teacher, Gospel Music Band; When we stand before God’s children whether in concert or on a gig, or leading worship we present our Lord and Saviour in song, poetry, word, greeting; does our life match up to the things we minister about outside the arena? Are those on outside or around us can say that we are Christ Ambassadors?

I ask this question because I have witnessed, read about and have seen worship team members and choir members, going to practice smelling full of alcohol and cigarettes,  and some ministers abusing their wives and some their husbands, then appear on stage to sing and preach and glorify the Lord.

How can we lead others to Christ and build our churches, when we are the ones knowingly or un-knowingly hurting those on the outside or being affected by the way we live and talk.

Tell me is this right?

I leave you with this : “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship”. Rom 12:1

Worship- The What, Why, How

So here is my discussion for today; there is so much confusion, literature, heated debates discussions that are circulating about  worship; but I personally feel that is not so much on just worship but understanding ‘What’ worship is, the ‘Why’ the ‘How’ and the ‘Where’.

Worship is being confused with the various forms and expressions of worship, but worship is a part of us and not separated from us and it is not something we just do as an event or just on Sunday morning, we were created to worship so it is part and parcel of us our complete being. The singing, flow of songs , teaching Sunday school, etc these are all acts or expressions of worship.

I came across so many definitions of worship over the last ten years but there are two that stand out for me;

1) The reverent love and devotion accorded to a deity, idol or object (Oxford dictionary), and 2) Worship is the believer’s response of all that they are, mind, emotions, will, body, to what God is and says and does. (Warren Wiersbe -Real Worship)

Worship is our total submission of us to God, a complete total surrender to His love, will and purpose, this is definitely not self centered and based on how we feel. We must give all that we have, because worship is what we do, it is a part of us.

Worship is not about someones’s taste or style, because God created us with different personalities, skills, talent and abilities, but we were all created to worship Him. In other words worship is for Him, and our response is to Him. According to 1Pet 2:9 “We are to declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light”

The “Why” we Worship

It is His Love for us first, this wonderful gift to us, He is worthy of our Praise our worship, the creator of the universe. We have seen and know what He has done and there is no one He can be compared to. He is Holy and awesome and deserve our praise and not just for what He has done but because who He is.

The ‘How’ we Worship

In Psa 95 it reads; Oh come, let us sing to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation, let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms for the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods……..

Let us worship and bow down and kneel before the Lord our God our Maker, and Psa 98, there are many ways to worship Him but there is no greater model than what we read in Psa 95, 98, 22:3

Dont wait to cranked up my friends.

Why do we Celebrate Halloween?

Halloween is originally known as ‘Samhain’ which marks the end of the harvest season for Celtic farmers. Now during this time the Druid priest will foretell whether their villages will withstand the winter by lighting bon fires and they would disguise themselves to confuse the spirits that lurked around.

Now it is said that in the 8th century Pope Gregory the third (III)established what is known as ‘All Hallows Day’ to try to distract the  Celts from their pagan practice and instead used it to honor all saints known or unknown on Nov 1st.  For a while the Europeans accepted this but they wanted to continue with what was started as the tradition and they changed the name from ‘All Hallows Day’ to All Hallows Eve’ which was a heathen tradition.

During this period the Americans never participated in this tradition because they never wanted to associate with such a heathen tradition until the Irish came to the US and  in the mid 1900’s they continued with the tradition with their bon fires, and jack o’ lanterns and demonic made costumes. Trick or treat was originally known as ‘howling’ where they would go from home to home and pray for the soul of each family that passed in exchange for small cakes to eat.

This became a growing tradition for Americans by the 20th century and the Catholics used this time to remember the saints and the dead.This season usually takes place at the end of summer and just as the darker half of the year begins, where all the spirits good or bad come and walk among the living. The bonfires were used to ward of witches who are awaiting their punishment in hell and jack o lanterns were made out of crops to represent souls of the dead.

In other rituals on this particular night they offer up humans as a sacrifice. According to the Celtic druid tradition Oct 31st is their form of New Years Eve to celebrate every form of evil, the wicked and the dead. The colors for the devil and the wicked is orange, black, and red.

People wore disguises to confused the spirits because it is said the spirits come out at this time to seek revenge on those that harm them in the past lives. In Spain women bake pastries called ‘bones of the Holy’ and put it in the  grave yards and witches have their worship services and offer up blood as a sacrifice to satan.

So Tell me again why are we celebrating Halloween?

The Church is a Hospital

Now I have spoken to quite a few people in the last two weeks and also heard many people preach on the church being a ‘Hospital’ now my question today is; if we are a hospital our medication (word) our equipment ( the tools we use to operate with), the staff must be upgraded and ready to work with and receive those who are coming in with all types of sickness and problems. So with all the different churches out there,  as a body of Christ are we prepared for this?

Weigh in on this.

Should the Church be talking Sex, Homosexuality, Love

We  hear our kids coming home from school talking about things they learnt in health class and the depths of the discussions in the class and then some of us parents get upset and say our kids should not  be hearing these things, so hear is my question;

Are we spending time talking to our kids about this, or are we depending on the system, Should these topics be discussed in our local churches instead of us keeping it taboo or making derogatory remarks?
